The Girl Guides Association of Uganda joins the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) member countries in commemorating the 2023 Red Pride week from today, the 24th to the 28th of May!

Red Pride week is dedicated to the girls and young women across the world who are suffering and are affected by period poverty.

With support from the WAGGGS-NOREC (Norwegian Agency for Exchange Cooperation) collaboration, Red Pride is now one of the core initiatives of our flagship international project- YESS Girls’ Movement and is celebrated by girl guides and girl scouts globally leading up to Menstrual Hygiene Day on May 28.

The Red Pride campaign aims to raise awareness of menstrual hygiene and management, highlighting the widespread taboos and the stigma surrounding menstruation.

We recognise that many girls and women still face challenges in accessing menstrual products, safe and sanitary changing rooms and wash facilities and lack education on menstruation management.

This Red Pride week, we invite you, our members, partners and the general public to take action to promote menstrual health and end period poverty by committing to raise awareness and mobilise funding on a local or global level, depending on your ability, because every one of our actions count.

We wish you a happy Red Pride week and Menstrual Hygiene Day! To join the celebrations, pick your Activity Pack from this link; Red Pride Activity Pack
